BIM Software - the future of the construction industry?
Due to increased efficiency and error control, the use of BIM technologies in architecture and construction is increasingly insisted upon. "Building Information Modeling" - BIM design method creates a database that contains in one place in digital format information about the dimensions of the element, quantities of materials, or any other parameter elements (price, manufacturer, color…) available to all project participants as designers all professions involved, as well as equipment manufacturers, investors, and others. "Building Information Modeling" or BIM, for short, is a term that describes the digitalization of the construction industry. It provides a comprehensive overview of construction projects, i.e., timely planning throughout the project cycle.
The BIM method connects all the steps of the project and thus significantly simplifies the flow of information. All the physical and functional properties of the various components are recorded in software solutions to create a digital twin of the planned building using a 3D model. For example, in simulation calculations for energy efficiency, the importance of the characteristics of window profile systems - SYNEGO or GENEO with their U-values can be included.
Since all information is available before construction begins, several other topics such as statics or burglary protection are taken into account in a timely and adequate manner. However, BIM is much more than a 3D model. It offers reality simulation and an even wider range of possibilities than other similar software, although it doesn't mean that you can use it as sex simulators in 2020. However, thanks to BIM, project participants work with a constantly updated database and have all the relevant information.
Implementing BIM has several advantages during each of the three phases of the project life cycle: the development phase, the construction phase, and the use phase. During the development phase, or as it is also called the "design phase," BIM advantages can be found in three levels.
The first level refers to the cooperation between architects and other engineers. Specifically, it allows for different real-time collaboration models that are drastically faster than current models. Sharing this model helps them understand each other's needs and make the right decision in the early project steps. Thanks to BIM, all project information is transparent. Each element of BIM contains a handful of information.
The second level concerns time and cost. Using BIM, architects and engineers can save tedious setup time! With the help of the "BIM cloud," the engineers involved in the project can immediately find out or even be automatically notified of what changes have been made by the architect. Further, no drawing adjustment is required. Therefore, BIM also helps saving lots of time.
The third level refers to the customer. Generating a virtual reality model based on the BIM model helps the customer experience a precise and realistic project presentation before construction.
